Applications may be mailed to
the DGACA offices or delivered in person Monday
through Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
(A phone call in advance to (818) 461-0916 will
ensure that someone is in the office to receive
your documents.) The DGACA is located in the
San Fernando Valley, East of the 405 Freeway
on the northwest corner of Ventura Boulevard
and Sepulveda Boulevard, in the Sherman Oaks
Galleria, at 15301 Ventura Blvd., Bldg. E, Suite
1073, Sherman Oaks, California 91403.
Applications are reviewed in
the order in which they are received, based
on the contract provisions in effect on the
date the completed application form and all
supporting documents are received by the DGACA.
The DGACA has the discretion to determine if
an application is complete.
It generally takes six weeks
to process an application after it is received
at the DGACA offices. (Exception: Requests for
upgrades on a Qualification List are generally
processed in two to three weeks. An example
of an upgrade is a change in job classification
on the Southern California Qualification List.
The application and supporting documentation
are the same for initial applications and for
upgrade requests, but processing time is shorter
for upgrade applications.)
If additional information is
required to process an application, the DGACA
will notify the applicant in writing and will
request that necessary documents be submitted
within 90 days. If the required information
is not submitted within the 90 day time period,
the application is closed. If an applicant subsequently
reapplies, the application will be reviewed
based on the contract provisions in effect on
the date the subsequent application and supporting
documentation is received.
After the application and supporting
documents have been reviewed and the DGACA is
satisfied the applicant has met the requirements
for placement, the DGACA advises the Directors
Guild of its intention to place the applicant's
name on the Qualification List. The applicant
receives a copy of this "intent to place" letter.
The Directors Guild is entitled to review applications
and supporting documents and it has 30 days
to challenge the DGACA's determination. The
Guild's staff reviews all initial applications
as well as the supporting documentation and
the DGA AD/UPM/TC Council also reviews applications
at its regularly scheduled meetings each month.
If the Directors Guild objects
to a placement, the applicant will receive a
copy of the Guild's objection letter and the
DGACA will address the Guild's concerns. If
the Directors Guild has no objections, the applicant
is mailed a letter advising him or her that
his or her name has been placed (listed) on
the Qualification List.
It
is the applicant's responsibility to retrieve
his or her documents immediately after placement.
If documents are not retrieved within two weeks,
they are destroyed.
